Artist Statement
I absolutely love working with beautiful wood to create one-of-a kind pieces of unique artwork. It is so exciting to see a piece develop from a raw block of wood (usually from a downed tree), into a finished piece. Ray Key, one of my instructors and internationally recognized woodturner, once said: “a beautiful bowl sings”, referring to the aesthetically pleasing orientation of wood grain and proper balance of a piece. My goal is for all of my pieces to “sing”.
I am most content and in my element while working in my workshop covered in wood chips. No piece of wood is ever the same and each offers its own interesting challenges and artistic potential! The ultimate joy I experience is sharing my artwork with others for them to enjoy.
